DIAMLER TRUCKS AND TOTALENERGIES ARE TEAMING UP

This collaboration will see the two companies partner together to supply hydrogen trucks and implement hydrogen fuel stations across Europe by 2030. This plan will help decarbonise the European road freight industry ahead of the planned 2050 target.

The biggest issue with heavy goods or long hall transportation is that they require a lot more power than electrical vehicles, this is where hydrogen is able to provide the power that is needed. The partnership will see the development of clean hydrogen that will improve the infrastructure. TotalEnergies has set the target of operating 150 hydrogen refuelling stations in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and the Netherlands by the end of the decade.mDaimler has also committed to supplying hydrogen-powered trucks to its customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France by 2025.

Alexis Vovk, president of Marketing & Services at TotalEnergies, said: “We want to build a multi-energies company with the ambition to get to net zero by 2050, together with society. Therefore, the creation of a European network of hydrogen truck stations for mobility is one of the key challenges we intend to tackle. We are proud to partner with a motivated player like Daimler Truck to develop carbon-neutral truck mobility through a harmonised approach.”
