Somers Forge is the 10th oldest family run firm in the UK, originally starting business in 1697 with the Lye Forge, and the Somers Forge first being established in 1866. . Their current site in Halesowen has the capacity to manufacture components from 1 kilogram to nearly 80 tonnes, including lengths of up to 23 metres. Somers combines the latest technology with traditional quality skills to compete and thrive in a diverse global market. Somers work in a multitude of sectors, including Defence, Marine, Oil & Gas, Power, and Aerospace.

Each year, Somers Forge review their energy consumption with the aim to reduce the actual performance vs kilowatt hours per tonne of steel produce by an average of 5%. 

Recycling and Aftermarket Support image

Recycling and Aftermarket Support

100% of all steel is fully traceable, and any metal by-products are recycled. Additionally, Somers Forge offer a refurbishment shafting solution which supports their environmental responsibility through recycling. They assess the product and if it is deemed unsuitable for refurbishment, then aftermarket routes are offered. This involves cutting the material into pieces to be remelted and recycled.
