The introduction of low carbon Hydrogen plays an important part in the UK's move towards net-zero carbon. The UK government is supporting the scale up of hydrogen production through the Net-Zero Hydrogen Fund, and Hydrogen Business Models, but to truly capitilise on the opportunity of 10GW hydrogen production, strong supply chains will need to be developed for 2030.
The hydrogen storage and distribution supply chain fund will support the development of hydrogen storage and distribution systems, reducing the associated cost of hydrogen supply chains and encouraging the commercialisation and adoption of hydrogen storage and distribution innovation in the UK.
The competition will provide grant funding for collaborative R&D projects which develop storage and distribution innovation including, but not limited to:
• pipeline and vessels
• vehicle transport
• storage tanks and surface infrastructure
• monitoring and system controls such as meters, sensors and valves
• refuelling and blending
