INDUSTRIAL ENERGY QUARTERLY REVIEW OF ISSUE 03

INDUSTRIAL ENERGY QUARTERLY REVIEW OF ISSUE 03

The department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has released its third issue of Industrial Energy Quarterly in April 2021. In it they discuss the release of the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson’s 10 Point Plan, which emphasised the importance of a Low Carbon future for the country.

There is also reference to projects across the UK that have been awarded a share of £171m in funding as part of the second phase of the Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC). This represents a significant step towards achieving the government’s net-zero ambitions. Projects in Humberside, the North West, Teesside, Scotland and South Wales will all receive government support to deploy Low Carbon technologies. This funding will support the deployment of decarbonised industrial clusters through Low Carbon technologies.

The report briefly discusses the development of the first hydrogen strategy and the key steps that will be needed to deliver on the ambitious Low Carbon hydrogen production by 2030. In the “UK EMISSIONS TRADING SCHEME,” you can find useful information and dates regarding the participation in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme. There is a lot of information on the latest instalment of the Industrial Energy Stakeholder Forum that took place at the end of March, with stakeholders and government officials once again gathering virtually, to discuss the latest updates and their net-zero plans.
